I wanted to turn your attention to a recent article in the New York Times about a Brazilian practitioner, known on Instagram as “Dr. Bumbum.” His real name is Denis Furtado.
The New York Times article is excellent. Here are the salient points:1. Denis Furtado did not hold a medical license.
2. The surgery occurred in an apartment, not a certified surgery center. Not all surgery centers are certified. Learn more here.
3. Denis Furtado injected a volume of filler MMA, that was known to be unsafe.
4. Safe techniques for buttock augmentation require greater surgical skill are more expensive than what Denis Furtado performed.
My thoughts go out to the patient and family who suffered this loss as a result of Denis Furtado’s arrogance and recklessness.
